For His glory, God calls His people to be a blessing, and to be ministers of His reconciliation to the ends of the Earth. God is the source of blessing. Only through a restored relationship with God, through faith in Jesus, is true flourishing possible. Thus, by the Spirit, we proclaim the Gospel in life, word, and deed before all people. God has filled the Earth with different communities and cultures. The fullness of God is displayed through all nations as they submit to and worship Jesus. In His wisdom, God brings the nations into our cities and sends His people among different nations. In all places, God calls the church to follow Jesus into loving relationship with all people. The Gospel requires that we humbly learn to love the foreigner, the marginalized, and even our enemies. We intentionally learn to love those not like us so that everywhere and in every culture Jesus would be loved and obeyed. As we love the least, last, lost, and left-out, the Kingdom of God presses against idolatry, injustice, self-interest, fear, and exclusion. God shows His intentions for all of creation through a reconciled community where men and women are in right relationship with God, needs are met through generous sacrifice, the stranger and orphan are equal participants, the oppressed are set free, and the seemingly powerful and powerless share in life’s rhythms as friends. We carry out this missional identity at Redemption Tempe through Local Outreach groups and Global Partnerships.

Working Poor

Join us the first Saturday of each month as volunteers from Redemption Church Tempe meet at the Rio Vista Community Center to provide fresh groceries to our neighbors in South Phoenix.  We will unload and organize grocery store donations and assemble them in boxes to distribute.

It’s more than just food distribution; it’s an opportunity for us to get to know our neighbors, love them, and serve as the hands and feet of a God who provides for His creation.

Global Partnerships

Hearing the call of Jesus to “make disciples of all nations,” we joyfully partner with God’s global church in seeing the Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. With this in mind, we have cultivated key relationships that are primarily focused on church-based community development. We currently have relationships with leaders and church planters in East Asia, and are continuing to build relationships and service opportunities with local leaders and organizations in Guatemala as well. In these relationships, we value:

  • Holistic Gospel: We understand that the Gospel is good news for all of life. We seek to strive towards holistic restoration and reconciliation in individuals, families, and communities.
  • Indigenous Leadership: We believe God is raising up national leaders around the world who are indigenous to their area. They know the language and culture of their neighborhood and are better equipped than us to understand the contextualization of the gospel there. We seek to locate mature indigenous leadership and place ourselves underneath their broader vision in relationship, service and support.
  • Local Church Empowering: Understanding that God is growing His global church, we do not pretend to be the experts in every culture, but seek to learn from how the Spirit is at work globally. We believe strongly in the ability of the local church to contextualize the Gospel here in Arizona, as well as across the globe. Where healthy, national churches exist we do not seek to start our own initiative but to listen and learn from the local vision God has given his people and seek strategic opportunities for partnership.
