who we are

r/tempe core values

ALL OF LIFE IS ALL FOR JESUS.

Since Jesus is Lord over all creation, our work, friendships, and how we spend our time and money all matter.

OUR VISION

We desire to launch communities that seek the shalom of all people, places, & problems in our city by the year 2073.

Our church's central location at Loop 202, near Loop 101 and US 60, is strategically chosen by God to unite diverse groups of people. We aim to foster community across economic, age, ethnic, and ideological lines, reflecting Christ's reconciling work. We focus on seeking the shalom of our area by establishing intentional communities that promote the flourishing of local places, people groups, and address key issues like homelessness, loneliness, and addiction.

We long to see the day in 2073 when we can drive these streets and see spiritual, social, and physical flourishing among all people, places, & and problems in our city.

“&” COMMITMENTS

Our God is an “and” God—fully divine and human, full of grace and truth, powerful and humble. We aim to make disciples who unite seemingly opposite qualities to reflect His character and kingdom, becoming a community that exemplifies this calling.

  • We believe we encounter God through His Word and the Spirit's work in believers' hearts, and we aim to be deeply immersed in Scripture and prayer.

  • We work for the glory of God and good of our neighbors with regular rhythms of rest, recreation, and restorative rhythms.

  • We relate to one another with deep commitment as a family, but we’re the kind of family that has a posture of adoption, committed to welcoming others.

  • We worship God together in our corporate gathering because he’s worthy of our collective praise, but we also encounter his goodness in all of life.

  • We aim to reflect the Gospel through both our words and actions, ensuring our community consistently demonstrates Christ's message of love and redemption.

  • We aim to engage with the world by viewing life through the Biblical Story and understanding our personal experiences. Our approach is shaped by both the universal truth of Scripture and the unique stories of our lives.

  • We encourage our church to be deeply rooted in the city, community, and relationships, while also serving as a sending community that launches people into new places. We aim to balance commitment and mission, resisting the tendency to drift away from our responsibilities.

  • We carefully manage our souls, bodies, finances, and families, aiming to resist self-absorption and instead cultivate our lives to be poured out in sacrificial love for others.
