Outreach

In all places, God calls the church to follow Jesus into loving relationship with all people. The Gospel requires that we humbly learn to love the foreigner, the marginalized, and even our enemies. We carry out this missional identity at Redemption Tempe through Local Outreach groups and Global Partnerships.

MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR CITY

Our City Outreach Groups partner with local organizations to serve identified areas of need in our city and to love our neighbors. Learn about each of our current partnerships and/or sign up to receive emails outlining upcoming opportunities to serve below.

  • Rio Vista Center: Join us the first Saturday of each month as volunteers from Redemption Tempe meet at the Rio Vista Community Center to provide fresh groceries to our neighbors in South Phoenix. We will unload and organize grocery store donations and assemble them in boxes to distribute. It’s more than just food distribution; it’s an opportunity for us to get to know our neighbors, love them, and serve as the hands and feet of a God who provides for His creation.

  • YoungLives: We support teen parents by gathering weekly to care for one another, share our stories, and press deeper into our journey with Jesus—through not only the gospel, but our lives as well. Come join our team by caring for children as the parents gather, bringing food for our meal, or help organize and clean community donations for our monthly “shopping experience” with donated supplies. Gatherings are held some Thursday nights from 6:30-9:30pm at the Redemption Tempe campus. Email us below for further questions or information.

Arizona 1.27: is a movement of churches working together to impact kids in foster care. Through wholistic church engagement, trauma informed training, advocating for the educational success of children in foster care and walking alongside mother’s in crisis, our programs work together to ensure every child who enters Arizona’s foster care system – enters into a safe and loving home surrounded by a thriving community of support.

Every Mother’s Advocate: The heart of Arizona 1.27's Birth Parent Initiative is to walk alongside women in crisis, specifically mothers whose children are in foster care, through a program called Every Mother's Advocate (EMA). We pair moms who have lost their children to foster care with a volunteer advocate who meets with her weekly to build meaningful relationship, champion her success, & help build supports as she navigates the requirements to reunify with her children.

Our work pours out of the belief that every mother, regardless of her circumstances deserves to have community. If you are interested in an ongoing and relational volunteer experience and have a heart for women experiencing hard circumstances, please complete the form below to be connected.

  • iHelp: Come enjoy dinner and conversation around the table with people experiencing homelessness at this family-friendly event, which is held on every third Thursday of the month from 5:00-6:30pm at Redemption Tempe. Our goal is to humanize a population that is often overlooked or looked down upon, but whom God has created in his image, worthy of dignity, respect, and relationship. Bring something to contribute to the meal through the monthly sign up you’ll receive after joining this team.

GLOBAL

PARTNERSHIPS

MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS

Hearing the call of Jesus to “make disciples of all nations,” we joyfully partner with God’s global church in seeing the Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. With this in mind, we have cultivated key relationships focused on church-based community development. In these relationships, we value:

Holistic Gospel: We understand that the Gospel is good news for all of life. We seek to strive towards holistic restoration and reconciliation in individuals, families, and communities.

Indigenous Leadership: We believe God is raising up national leaders around the world who are indigenous to their area. They know the language and culture of their neighborhood and are better equipped than us to understand the contextualization of the gospel there. We seek to locate mature indigenous leadership and place ourselves underneath their broader vision in relationship, service and support.

Local Church Empowering: Understanding that God is growing His global church, we do not pretend to be the experts in every culture, but seek to learn from how the Spirit is at work globally. We believe strongly in the ability of the local church to contextualize the Gospel here in Arizona, as well as across the globe. Where healthy, national churches exist we do not seek to start our own initiative but to listen and learn from the local vision God has given his people and seek strategic opportunities for partnership.
